Exercise Advice (top 10 tips)
1. Never exercise on an empty stomach. Low
blood sugar when exercising can result in feeling dizzy and light headed
2. Eat two hours before exercising. This allows
your body time to process the food. Your body uses up energy throughout digestion
and as a result, blood flow increases to the digestive system. Exercising
directly after a large meal could leave you feeling nauseous, lack of energy and
with muscle cramps. If you do need to eat something before exercise, try a
piece of fruit or a small fruit juice.
3. Get active in everyday life. It doesn’t take much
to incorporate simple exercises into your every day life that will help burn extra
calories. Take the stairs instead of the lift, walk to the local shop at lunch
time instead of driving and move more briskly when you’re on your feet.
4. Exercise in the morning. What’s most important
is that you get active; however the best time to exercise is in the morning.
This helps boost your metabolism and burn significantly more calories throughout
the day. It also increases your oxygen intake and blood flow leaving you feeling
more energised and more alert all day
5. Get a flat stomach. In order to achieve that perfect
washboard stomach you have to strengthen your core muscles first with general exercises
like walking, running and swimming. After that the most effective results
for toning your abs and obliques come from a combination of sit ups and crunches.
Incorporating them into every day life is easy - do them in your house at any stage
during the day. Keeping your stomach muscles tight when you’re sitting at
your desk or in the car during the day can also help strengthen the muscles throughout
the day.
6. Get involved in activities you enjoy. Exercise
shouldn’t be a chore; there are so many options out there you can choose something
you enjoy whether it’s, walking, running, swimming, salsa dancing or yoga – if you
enjoy it the likelihood is you’ll stick to it.
7. Exercise with people. If you exercise with others,
having the moral support and encouragement helps to keep you committed, helps you
improve quicker, and incorporates exercise into a more social environment.
8. Tone your bum/glutes. To really tone glutes the
best and quickest way to see results is to practice squats. You can do them
in the privacy of your own home and they can be done easily at any time during the
day in front of the TV or with the music on and you’ll really notice the difference.
9. Set yourself challenges. If you have goals
in mind it makes it easier to stay motivated and work towards something. But
remember even though they’re challenges they still have to be realistic and achievable.
10. Starting exercise. It doesn’t take long to build
up and improve your level of fitness and start seeing results. General cardiovascular
exercise like walking and swimming is good for improving your fitness without causing
over exertion and allows you to build up gradually.
